  • New rider from Greer, SC

    Hey all,
Name's Shaun, live in Greer, SC, I'm 25 years old, happily married with a 3 yr old daughter! I just purchased my first bike on Friday. It's a 2009 Vulcan 900 Custom Special Edition with 6000 miles. So far I love the bike and it's been great to start learning on! I can't wait to get to know some of you guys and gals and possibly meet up for some rides once I get comfortable riding.

Shaun - whoa that's a beautiful machine - you are going to enjoy her brother that's for sure. Hey one point of advice don't ride it like a Harley - the 900 love's to run so don't be afraid to put some distance between the gears!

I've already joined up with the 1-50 chapter on Facebook. The accents are actually orange on it, not red. It might be hard to tell in the picture. Thanks for the compliments on it. I'm really enjoying it!

Hey Shaun, welcomed me to the addiction. My 900 was my first bike, too.

You're a young man with a young family.... Listen to DaBull and sign up for the MSF course. It's the best thing any new rider can do. I'm not sure about where you live, but in NJ you get a 10% break on your insurance if you take the class. That discount erased the cost of the class effectively making it free.

                      See ya around!

That's awesome, man. I really enjoyed it, and it was one of the conditions that the mrs. made me agree to when getting the bike. It's been some years and I'm considering another course. Sometimes we get sloppy or develop bad habits, plus I ride alone most of the time so at least I can get with some like minded people.
