Sigs sure are pretty but accuracy is the shooter, the tollerences between a Sig and a Glock are fairly close with the same ammo, so its really up to the shooter, I know my guns shoot straight and true, but when my wife or a buddy shoots from the same distance that cant group as well as I can, thats the shooter, as long as were taking about quality gun makers like Sig, Glock, and Kimber, its really the same arguement as Ford, Chevy, and Dodge...it comes down to preference

Well said Scotty. It always boils down to grip, breathing and trigger control when you are talking about accuracy. Gotta know how to shoot. Our SWAT guys were issued the Kimber 45 and they all wanted their Glocks back. They said they were maintenance prone and required a frequent cleaning due to their tendency to rust in the salty environment of Florida. That is one area it is hard to argue the advantage of Glock. It is the easiest gun to clean and maintain I have ever owned.

Accuracy comes down to my eyes these days. Everything else is still the same, but it's getting darned hard to see both the target and the sights to align them the same. Even when supporting my arms on a bench, the eyes still are the limiting factor.

Not so much on my rifle with scope, and certainly the 12 gauge still manages to break a large percentages of the clays. Since I've got the 12 gauge just inside the closet door, that is my home protection choice, the 9mm second choice.

Sounds like you might be a fan of the new "judge" revolvers that are out. The chamber can be loaded with a 45 cal. cartridge or a 4-10 shotgun shell. They are a snub nose design and I can even imagine the spread of the shot coming out of that barrel. I would imagine anything in front of you will be hit. Not to mention the follow up round being a 45 will surely put them down.

That new judge is SA-WHEAT, I wanna get one for the nightstand, but still keep the Remington 870 loaded with buckshot and slugs in the hall closet in case someone want to make an uninvited visit, lol, not to mention the other rifles and handguns, lol, being LE and Military I love the tools of the trade, its more than just as hobby, as I'm sure you can agree oinkers

I've looked at the 45/410 pistol, just doesn't seem a fit for me. Although if I had more money and more room, I'd have one just to play with.

Reminds me of something that I'd considered bringing up. Having a contest for best group of 5, at 30', which was standard range for carry permit in Iowa until they no longer require shooting for the concealed carry.

Of course, being the old fart, I get to use a vice.

That's funny, Fly! The NRA makes us qualify by shooting two 9" paper plates at 45 feet. They give us 22 rounds and we are required to hit each plate with ten shots. It is my opinion this is a fair standard assessment for NRA instructors. Of course, two of my fellow students showed up with 22LR pistols to qualify with. I qualified with my Glock 40 cal. My testosterone impeded me from shooting a 22 to qualify, although I believe they were smart in doing so. One of the students shooting the 22's was kicked out because he couldn't shoot at the required distance. A lady student out shot all of us.

Sig/Sauer fan here. I got mine when VSP switched from 9mm to .40 Smith and Wesson. Sig offered a 'buy back' program if you didn't want to trade in the "Wunder Nine." One trooper I knew didn't want his so I got it from him. I wish mine was either .40, or even better, .357 Sig, but the price was right and 9mm is easy to find and cheaper.

Everytime I hear talk about pistols, I think of a story I heard once. I can't be sure, but I think some British general was asked what sidearm is best. He said "Pistols are useful. They give you something to shoot until you can find a rifle."

'Course climbing in and out of a cruiser with a carbine strapped to your side would be tricky. And forget about concealing it!

the best pistol or weapon for that matter has nothing to do with caliber or brand, and everything to do with what you can consistantly terrminate the threat with accreately and quickly, lol, man i've been in the military to long

Not the ones i've come into contact with, and i'm in the military, lol, plenty of them around nowadays, lol but I won't deny that I have been out shot by a couple and I'm quailfied as an expert marksmen on all my weapons

I have a 30 cal M1 carbine for home. It's very compact for a rifle and easy to use. No pistols though (yet).

I was the first female to make our Rifle Team in JROTC in HS. Looooved to shoot! Made sharpshooter in no time.

And you're right. Not about the brand or the size, but all about the shooter. Guess that Marine was a better shooter than the Israeli!
Still, I wouldn't want to be up against either. Glad we're allies!

Sometimes, the brand and caliber can make a difference. Filipino insurgents who near the turn of the century kept charging after being shot numerous times, made the US Army and Marines think, "Hey, maybe this .38 just ain't cutting it." Hence, the .45 ACP came into being.

German soldiers fighting on the eastern front in WWII, grabbed every PPsh, (Burp gun) they could find. The damn things just kept shooting. Same reason why AK47's are so popular. Simple, straightforward, and reliable.

Sig's keep on shooting no matter what. Glocks, too, from what I hear. I know a guy who bought a brand new Ruger 9mm automatic. It stovepiped at least one round in just about every magazine it emptied. Yeah, it may have been a fluke, but bad guys, enemy combatants, etc, will probably not give you time to clear the breach of a jammed weapon. Yeah, it does depend on the shooter. But desert sand, or jungle mud, or freezing temperatures are the real test of a weapon and if it doesn't pass the test, the shooter might as well throw the damn thing at the bad guys.
