      Ah, party lines. The kid next door was about couple years older than me and my brother. Er used to take our phone off the hook and listen to him talk to his girlfriend. He would always hear us and then threaten to beat us up. It was good times.

              I don't think I remember a DOS AOL but how about Prodigy, or Compuserve at $12/hour for 2400 baud access!

              Or, phone numbers with letter prefixes. "Call POplar 5-5555"

                    Thought of some more. Early 80s IBM Z100 computer, Intel 8088 CPU, 2 5.25" disc drives, one for program and one for data files. No Hard drive. Green screen monitor.

                      when my sister was in highschool she would bring boxes of those punch cards home for programing. She was one of those geeks that ended up owning everyrthing, Man she made a boatload of money!
