Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
If waterboarding doesn't cause pain or injury and it only induces an extreme sense of panic and fear about drowning, isn't that just "bluffing"?
Isn't that the same as holding someone over the edge of a roof and "threatening" to drop them if they don't tell you what you want to know?
Or dousing someone in gasoline and then standing there with a lighter "threatening" to light them on fire.
If you don't actually drown them, drop them off the roof, or light them on fire, then it's just a scare tactic.
To me, waterboarding just seems to be a very convincing scare tactic. If they do it for hours and hours, then yeah, that's torture. Perhaps if they just put a time limit on how long someone was allowed to be water boarded before they had to quit. <shrug>John Featherlin

Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
But just imagine that it's been done to you multiple times, and you know it's going to happen again, every day.
John McCain, you know him as the fighter pilot in the Viet Cong 'Hanoi Hilton", that did call it torture, and stated that it was wrong for the US to do this.

Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
If the 'person' is a terrorist you have my blessing to go full Apache on him. these guys hide behind the innocent. I was living in PA. when 911 happened didn't have any close friends involved but a couple people I did know never came home..Papa Bear

Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
We've all lost family or friends in these wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Wars are ugly things, and only should be used as a last resort.
If a person is truly guilty of being a terrorist, it's one thing. However, to use any form of torture, or rendition, on people that simply were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or were turned in by people that just wanted them out of the way, is against everything the US used to stand for. We've done that, and I'm not proud of it.

Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
there is alot of missifomation out there about waterboarding, but in reality it was only done to 3 terrorists! 3 known members of Al Qaeda. thats all, not hundreds, not even tens' but only 3!!
And in the case of Khallid it was two and a half minutes of water boarding, not days on end.- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was the man behind the 9/11 attacks.
- Abd Al-Rahim al-Nashiri was behind the attack on the USS Cole.
- Abu Zubaydah was a top operations officer for al Qaeda

Re: Waterboarding demonstrated
since posting that i have found alittle more info, see the different info you can find online..
1. khalid had water poured on him 183 times.
2. in a interview with khalid he said he was waterboarded 5 times. "CIA claims that it had happened for two and a half minutes."
3. 2 ex CIA said it had happened only once.
