Just purchased a 99 EN500 and almost immediately got the opportunity to test ride it on the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA and NC. I have been riding for over 30 years and thought I knew what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised by the ride of this little scoot. So nice....

I am actually pretty fortunate to be here. July 8, 2012 I lost control of my bike (CB750 cafe bike) and ended up pitching through the bars and planting headfirst into the ditch. I still have no recollection, and the guys behind me said I just drifted across the road, no brake light, no correction attempt..
I ended up with a collapsed lung, 8 fractured ribs, broken clavicle, bleeding on the brain and worst of all, 3 compressed cervical vertebra, which needed this to fix:
2 months in hospital and lots of PT, I am now to the point where I can hold up and manage a bike again. I still have to medicate for pain, and I lost some fine motor coordination. The EN500 is perfect for me, with the low COG and light weight.
My family has been great, very supportive, especially my wife. None are too thrilled with me riding again, but it was a big goal of mine to recover to the point where I could ride again. I made a deal not to use the bike as a commuter any more, just to work on them and ride to events and special rides in the mountains, etc....

Welcome from South Carolina. So glad your able to get back up on two wheels. That 500 is a real nice ride and shes got good looks too. I think I'm a little jealous. Look forward to meeting you and spending a little quality time in the wind with ya.Isaiah 40;31

Re: New Member from NC
mmccune, it doesn't look like you have cause for jealousy, judging by your stable. I have to say that this bike impressed me so much I picked up another one for my son:
It's a little rough here and there, but should patch up really well. He has a CBR1000RR and wants something a little less "extreme" to putt around on...
