  • NH Mean Streak Reporting for Duty

Just found the site and have registered. Didn't even know this existed but thanks to Gadget's site I do now.

After 40 years out of the saddle I bought a 2008 Mean Streak this Summer. So damned good to be back in the saddle, especially with a Bike this nice and capable.

Welcome from TN. I owned an '07 mean streak from '09 - '16. Sportiest true cruiser out there. Enjoy!

Well thanks to all for the warm welcome. I wish the climate in NH from Oct-May would be as welcoming!

When I saw this Meanie on Craig's list, it sure changed my mind about a few things Bike-related. I had ridden a few Sportsters and a Honda 750. Then I got Mean Streaked. This cruiser stands alone in this segment from what I can tell.

The combo of performance, handling, reliability and comfort did not exist in every other Bike I tested. Plus, she puts a smile on my soul every time we take to the wind.

I hope to enjoy some rides with you folks down the road. Thanks Again!

Welcome!!! Glad to have you with us in the VRA!! I need to update my signature picture as I recently picked up a 2008 Mean Streak to go along with the other two Vulcans I have. Love all 3 and each is uniquely different, though other obligations have conspired against me having anytime to really try out the Mean Streak.

Thanks Jesse. Western MA is by far the most beautiful part of the State. I used to sell CAD hardware and software to a Pfizer Plant that as I remember was in Adams MA.

Have to do some rides through your part of the State!

That is one gorgeous Meanie Randy! (guess I'm a bit partial to the redheads) Will be most interested to hear your thoughts on the Meanie vs your 2 other Vulcans as you get more seat time.

To me the only sad thing about Mean Streaks is that Kawasaki stopped making them in 2008 and they haven't really attemtped to stay in the muscle cruiser game.

Indeed it would be nice if they were still being made, or if Ma Kaw had something similar without a fairing.

Of course the muscle cruiser segment dried up to some extent though there are still ones being made by the other makes. I suppose with the switch to the 1700 they did not want to put the resources towards mating that engine to a muscle cruiser, and even the 1700 Classic has went by the wayside leaving the only big engine option on bikes with fairings.

Randy, all true and still sad because I think "Ma Kaw" has missed a boat it was steering there for a couple of years. I read one national cycle article lamenting the passing of Mean Streak and regret on the Editors' part that they didn't recognize just how good the Streak was at combining all the good parts into one really solid, rewarding package. In retrospect, they named it a Best Buy in the used Cruiser market.

I think Polaris "gets it". With the intro of the Scout, Scout 60 and Victory Octane, they reached out directly to muscle cruiser fans and had I the budget, one of those 3 would be under me now. Even HD is introducing new "muscle-oriented" models (saw one just last week in an HD email), so I think the segment is more than viable.

In any case, I'm approaching 11K miles on the Meanie and plan on many years of rewarding cruising with an attitude!
