Central IL 1-39 made this years donation of aluminum can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield IL on August, 21st. We had quite a haul of tabs this year that was spurred on by the competition between myself and one of my chapter members Chris Roberts. For those that don't know he had more than me last year and the result was I had to wear a dress at both the Hillbilly Hoedown in Kentucky, and at our chapter picnic. This year we also had a competition with the Steel City Chapter on who could get the most. I am still waiting to hear their final number, but Central IL had a total of 647.8 pounds of tabs. Chris came in at 266.6 and I came in with 381.2, and there is talk of trying to surpass the grand total next year which seems an awful tall order but you never know. Tom Taylor our former national president should be proud of what he helped get started, and him and Mark Ballew did contribute about a 100 pounds this year which was great!
So here is what roughly 647,000 can tabs looks like in 32 gallon trash cans.
