Knee-driving Miss. man caught texting with both hands while driving with a toddler, deputies say

MOBILE, Alabama -- Two Mississippi men were arrested Tuesday after they were found with multiple drugs in a car passing through the George Wallace Tunnel while the driver was "double texting," and a 3-year-old sat in the backseat, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.

Dandre Moore, 19, and Dartavious Moore, 22, were arrested by deputies Tuesday after a car driven by Dandre Moore was stopped while passing through the George Wallace Tunnel.

"He was double texting and driving with his knees," said Lori Myles, public information officer with MCSO.

Officials say Dandre Moore told deputies he had been "double texting," or driving while texting people on phones held in each hand, since he was 15 years old.

Dandre Moore allowed officials, including deputies, Alabama State Troopers and officers with the Spanish Fort Police Department, to search his car. Inside they found a bottle of prescription oxycodone pills which had been filled on March 26 with 720 pills.

It was down to 386 when authorities found it, Myles said.

Nearly $5,000 was found in the car's glove compartment. An unlabeled pill bottle had "several Xanax" inside. Dartavious Moore, who was in the front passenger seat, had an ounce of marijuana hidden in his underwear, according to Myles.

Two women and a 3-year-old were sitting in the car's backseat. The women and the child were released while Dandre Moore and Dartavious Moore were arrested, officials said.

Dandre Moore was charged with illegal possession of the prescription drug Xanax and possession of a controlled substance. Dartavious Moore was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Booking records show Dartavious Moore and Dandre Moore, who live in Philadelphia, Miss., have no known prior arrests in Mobile County.

Dandre Moore was released on bail late Tuesday night. Dartavious Moore remains in Mobile County Metro Jail as of 7:30 p.m. today.

Five tonnes of Nutella stolen from parked van by German thieves (following earlier hits on same target for energy drinks and coffee)


These thieves bring new meaning to the phrase sticky fingers.
An unknown number of culprits stole 5.5 tonnes of Nutella chocolate-hazelnut spread from a parked trailer in the central German town of Bad Hersfeld over the weekend, according to police. The gooey loot is worth around $20,710.
A local news report said that thieves had previously stolen a truckload of Red Bull energy drinks from the same location several weeks ago. Around $40,000 worth of coffee was taken in a previous hit.

Nutella is made by the Italian company Ferrero. North America's supply of Nutella is manufactured in Brantford, Ontario in Canada.
Last month, Columbia University in New York City was forced to deny that ravenous students were stealing $5,000-worth of Nutella from the school’s dining halls each week.

Man jailed for stealing bus and picking up friends after night out

A man from Nottinghamshire has been jailed for four months for stealing a Stagecoach bus from a depot after a night out and trying to drive home in the snow.

Scott Dowdall, 29, took the bus from the Sutton Road depot in Huthwaite on Friday 22 March, and tried to play bus driver as he went to pick up friends waiting at Mansfield Bus Station.

According to chad.co.uk, CCTV footage shows Dowdall breaking into the vehicle and driving off at around 3.15 am.

Prosecutor David Miles told Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Wednesday that he was then caught on camera picking up four people who "appeared to then go to the back of the bus and urinate on the seats".

Police were tipped off after a member of the public saw the bus abandoned in the middle of Sutton Road with its alarm going off.

At the scene, officers found a fresh set of footprints in the snow, which they followed to the door of a nearby property, where they found a pair of boots with a grip that matched the prints.

Mr Miles told the court that they found Mr Dowdall asleep on the sofa inside and, when asked what he'd been doing, he said he couldn't remember.

Dowdall pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without consent, failing to provide a sample and driving while being disqualified.

According to ITV News, PC Emma said: "Instead of walking or getting a taxi home after his night out he put his own life, and that of others on the road, in danger.

"It had been snowing heavily that evening and officers noticed there were footprints leading from the bus to an address in New Hucknall Way.

"In a great piece of old-fashioned detective work they followed them, found Dowdall there and were able to make an arrest."

In a statement, Stagecoach told This Is Nottinghamshire: "We would like to thank the police for tracking down the person responsible for this theft and we are pleased that justice has been done."

Victims take gun from suspects during home invasion, suspects come back asking for their gun

Edinburg police continue their search for a man accused of robbing three people early Saturday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News two men burst into an apartment located on the 1400 block of West Carmen Street around 4:00 Saturday morning and demanded money.

They allegedly tried to steal the three victims wallets.

Police said during the robbery the victims were able to get the gun from the suspects; both fled the scene.

The victims called 911 and turned the gun over to police.

A few hours later the victims said the suspects came back and asked for their gun back—that is when the victims called police again.

The suspects took off in a Pontiac Bonneville.

Police chased the suspects until they crashed on the 400 block of West FM 2812.

One suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the other suspect got away.

Charges are pending against the suspect in the hospital.

Zombies were chasing me, alleged big-rig thief explains

TEMECULA, Calif. -- Authorities say a man who allegedly stole a big-rig truck in Riverside County and hurt seven people in crashes claimed he was fleeing from zombies.

Nineteen-year-old Jerimiah Hartline of Tennessee was arrested on Saturday after the rig, loaded with strawberries, overturned on Interstate 15 in Temecula after a series of crashes. He remains jailed Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol Officer Nathan Baer tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/Yiqs9e ) that Hartline claimed zombies were chasing him and he had to get away.

Baer says the truck was stolen when the driver got out at the scales on I-15 near the town of Rainbow. The trucker told the CHP that Hartline is an acquaintance who stowed away in Tennessee and was allowed to remain.

Pasco deputies: Evicted stepson left parting gift on the porch

NEW PORT RICHEY – A 19-year-old man was served an eviction notice and led away in handcuffs Monday afternoon after, deputies say, he pushed his stepfather and pooped on the porch.

Jorge Jonathan Cruz-Blanco was mad because he knew the eviction notice was coming, his stepfather told deputies, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Kenneth Pangborn said his stepson didn't have a job and wasn't going to school, so he was kicking him out. The report said Cruz-Blanco threw things around the house and shoved 72-year-old Pangborn to the ground. Cruz-Blanco stepped outside to wait for deputies when he heard Pangborn calling 911.

When they arrived, Cruz-Blanco explained that he had to use the bathroom while he was waiting, so he pulled down his pants and left the mess on the porch.

Cruz-Blanco, of New Port Richey, was arrested on a charge of battery on a person over 65. He remained Tuesday at the Land O'Lakes jail without bail.

Eel Removed From Man After Getting Stuck, Chewing Through Colon (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

A man in China's southeastern Guangdong province admitted himself to a local hospital after he reportedly got a live eel stuck inside him. According to British tabloid The Sun, the man inserted the 20-inch-long Asian swamp eel into his anus after seeing it done in a porn movie, and he had to endure all-night surgery to have it extracted.

According to a HuffPost translation of a blogger's post on Chinese message board forum Mop.com, the eel reportedly chewed through the man's colon, perforating his large intestine, and became stuck in his body cavity. A graphic X-ray image (seen below) shows how far inside the eel was when the man came in for treatment.

Medical team members reportedly said the eel, which was “simply trying to find its way out," was alive when removed but died shortly thereafter. According to The Sun, the man is still recovering at the hospital and might face animal cruelty charges.

The Asian swamp eel -- also known as the rice eel or rice paddy eel -- is a snake-shaped fish that is commonly sold live at food markets in East Asian countries.

Although this type of eel is known as an invasive species in parts of the United States, this isn't the first time that it's made its way into (ahem) foreign habitats.

In 2012, a New Zealand man had to have an eel removed from his posterior. In 2010, a Chinese man died after his friends allegedly inserted an eel into his rectum as a joke.
